IPC Survey Reveals Electronics Industry Is Not Prepared for REACH

More than 40% of manufacturing and purchasing personnel have no understanding of the REACH regulation as it affects their companies. The same holds true for nearly one-third of senior management and 29% of engineering personnel. (Even 28% of environment, health, and safety personnel have no understanding of REACH’s impact.) All this according to the newly released results of a survey on “REACH Preparedness,” conducted by IPC, the Association Connecting Electronics Industries.

EPA Issues NESHAP Standards

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is issuing national emission standards regarding the control of hazardous air pollutants for nine metal fabrication and finishing area source categories. This final rule, which went into effect on July 23, establishes emission standards in the form of management practices and equipment standards for new and existing operations of dry abrasive blasting, machining, dry grinding, and dry polishing with machines, spray painting, and other spray coating, as well as welding operations.
