IPC Printed Circuits Expo '08:
A Chance to Get 'Connected'
A major event promises to draw hordes of visitors to the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas this spring, and it’s not a heavyweight prize fight, high-stakes golf tournament, or competitive sporting match. Give up? It’s the 2008 IPC Printed Circuits Expo, APEX, and the Designers Summit, which is slated to kick off March 29–April 3.
The three-pronged event, organized by IPC—a global trade association comprising 2,500 member firms—will host leading experts from around the world to discuss challenges facing the electronic interconnect industry. Dozens of full- and half-day courses will cover a broad range of topics critical to all segments of the industry.
As a prelude to the technical sessions, IPC will welcome Huang Jianzhong of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Information Industry (MII), and Patrice Rolett, general manager, Avantec (France). These guest speakers will address China's environmental directive, Administrative Measure for the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products (also know as "China RoHS") and the European Union's "Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals" regulation (a.k.a., REACH). Show organizers say attendees stand to gain valuable and timely insights into these regulations and their impact on the future of global electronics assembly.
"While lead-free [components] and complying with the growing list of environmental directives and regulations certainly continue to be hot topics, attendees also need to know current thinking on advanced technology, embedded components, design, quality, reliability and testing, and more," said Jean Hebeisen, IPC director of professional development. "The professional development program brings the world’s top speakers to address the industry's top priorities."
Hebeisen makes a compelling case to attend. For more information on the event, please visit www.GoIPCShows.org. There you’ll find complete course descriptions and an interactive search feature. Hopefully you’ll make it a point to come and get connected!
