State of Connecticut Recognizes Local Finisher

REM Surface Engineering receives innovation award for its signature ‘ISF’ Process.

The Connecticut Quality Improvement Award's Innovation Gold Award was presented to REM Surface Engineering for their breakthrough surface finishing technology, the Rapid ISF® Process.” REM’s Rapid ISF Process allows automotive ring and pinion gears to be Isotropically Superfinished in 4 to 10-minute cycle times while producing an exceptionally smooth, uniquely textured ISF® Surface with performance benefits including increases in fuel efficiency, power density allowable and component lifetime.

Justin Michaud, vice president of REM, received the award on the company’s behalf. “This award is recognition of the hard work and efforts of many of REM’s Sales and Research employees," he said. "it is the culmination of years of work in the effort towards providing the automotive industry an optimized process to meet their short cycle time, low work-in-process inventory demands while also enabling access to the revolutionary ISF Surface and its myriad performance benefits.”

The Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership Inc., America’s first state-level quality award, was founded in 1987, utilizing the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for Performance Excellence criteria in an effort to advance innovative programs that improve quality performance and marketplace competitiveness.
