EPA Announces Enforcement Priorities for 2008-10

EPA recently announced on Oct. 12, 2007 that in addition to the mineral processing and mining sectors and concentrated animal feeding operations, the agency will be focusing its enforcement efforts over the next three years on air, water, and waste regulations.

EPA will target compliance with: 1) storm water runoff, combined sewer overflow and sanitary sewer overflow requirements under the Clean Water Act; 2) new source review requirements and maximum achievable control technology (MACT) standards under the clean Air Act; and financial assurance requirements under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
